Within Walking Distance 

In Melvich, there are a couple of options for eating out: 

• Melvich Hotel offers a great menu and is only a 2-minute was;k from The Steading. They also offer takeaway pizza which is to die for (pictured above)! Both options need to be booked in advance.

  • If you are looking for a drink after a long day, Melvich Hotel has recently opened up their public bar for people to enjoy on Fridays and Saturdays from 5-11 pm. ​

• Further down the road, there is The Halladale Inn Bistro next to The North Coast Touring campsite which also provides great meals

Further Afield 

There is an abundance of choices for food within a 25-minute drive away from our property, whether this is to the closest town, Thurso, or going west.

​

Thurso: 

• Y-Not is one of our personal favourites when in town with a large menu and an amazing cocktail menu as well! 

• The Holburn Hotel restaurant is also very popular for eating out in Thurso

• Another one of our favourites is Capilla Tapas Bar down in Scrabster! They offer a range of small Spanish dishes which are delicious and are something different to try when up at the very north

• Also down in Scrabster, there is The Ferry Inn and The Upper Deck which proves very popular with both locals and tourists

If you are looking for a bar to go to when in town there are various to choose from such as: 

• The Comm Bar​

• Top Joes

• Popeyes

West:

• Strathy Inn is only a 5-minute drive from The Steading and has a large range of home-cooked dishes on offer.

• A 20-minute drive west to Bettyhill will have you find The Farr Bay Inn which also has an amazing range of tasty dishes. They also provide a lovely drinks menu ranging from local malts to cocktails.
